Day 1 Poem...small still valentine
small still valentine
I didn’t want to be there
alone in a hall
full of people
in shades of red
A woman (friend today)
made me come
my bubbling anger
in a still body
having removed from me
the pills
that would have
prevented me
from meeting you
now quietly sitting
across from me
at a very long table
a small still body
watching me.
Then
“Would you
dance with me?”
body enfolded
in fuchsia pink
wooden, numb,
I acquiesced
“mmm”
to Lady in Red
to a man
I didn’t know
with a still small body
never knowing
he would rescue me
to a life
of small still
valentines.
