 Poetry Writing Prompt #1

 1 Walk through your home and pick up something that you can hold in the palm of your hand.

2 Turn it around in your hand and make a pact to take it with you wherever you go today.

3 Lest you forget, remind yourself not to let it out of your hand, write a note to that effect, holding the item in your hand.

4 As you go through your day, think of how it will help you today, the positives.

5 Now take time to think of the ways it hinders, the negatives.

6 Do the positive and negatives balance out? If yes, will you do this again? If not, will you do this again?

7 How does the responsibility of not letting go affect your level of commitment to this task?

8 Look for one good reason either way, and take a decision of some kind.

9 This choice is the substance of your poem.
