Day 10 Poems: for Jack...thoughts of you; lace and leather

thoughts of you

a lifting inside
as thoughts of
you come to me
my heart filling
to overwhelming
a great feeling
of consolation
a deep abiding
feeling of love
and
an outward smile
with this as
the thought comes
you are mine
I am yours
this love is ours
uniquely different
from all others

lace and leather

Awareness of each other's presence
before we ever met
Strong quiet presence of a man
I uncertain curious
First dance closeness comfort peace
who could have known
This would be the start of something new
never experienced before
Where I was introvert bookworm lace
you were energy daring leather
Yet together we melded into one cycling
down to the Old Port a picnic
What a summer that was
and now what a life!

Prompt for today: a Love poem

Set me as a seal upon your heart,
as a seal upon your arm;
for love is strong as death,
passion fierce as the grave.
Its flashes are flashes of fire,
a raging flame.
Many waters cannot quench love,
neither can floods drown it.
If one offered for love
all the wealth of one's house,
it would be utterly scorned.
Song of Solomon 8:6-7
wedding vows, June 1st
