Day 19 Poem: recycle upcycle for beauty and breath

recycle upcycle for beauty and breath

Time to recycle  upcycle
the earth’s wearing thin
in patience with us
what shall we do when she’s gone?

today’s plastic is tomorrow’s
it won’t go away disappear
people and earth
what shall we do when you’re gone?

today’s clothing is for someone
drop it off for good cause
the poor and in need
what shall they do when we’re gone?

fridge, bins recycled upcycled
repurposed given new life
children grandchildren
what shall they do when we’re gone?

time to recycle upcycle
they’re watching
counting on us
so they’ll know what to do when we’re gone

begin today for tomorrow
pick one thing
earth would like from you
so she’ll stay for a while when we’re gone

close your eyes for a minute
imagine life without her
beauty and breath
you’ll hope she’s still here even after you’re gone

now open your eyes
and begin
