Day 2 Poem...Longing-marks

Longing-marks

They’ve been with me
lovingly
my whole life
I look for one
or the other
and touch them
lovingly each time
small dark circle
soft on my collarbone
hi-lighting
the curve there
small light circle
over rising
questioning eyebrow
pale small one
lost now
in a splatter
of others
as I age
still close to that
delicate wrist
peeking between
watch and bangles
longing-marks
from my mother
lovingly placed
at my birth
through her own
longings
They’ve been with me
lovingly
my whole life
I look for one
or the other
and touch them
with love each time
and think of her
with longing
“beauty-marks”
she called them
thanks mum…
